Sustaining Culture during Past and Current Conflicts (Part III)
May 2025
As we acknowledge the United Nations International Day for Dialogue Among Civilization, this conversation was the third program in a series focused on “Sustaining Culture During Past and Current Conflicts.” As we navigate the complexities of our interconnected reality, our hope is that the insights from four esteemed professionals from the U.S., Lebanon, Belgium, and South Africa inspired individuals to embrace mutual understanding and cultural sustainability through their own creative endeavors.
Panel:
Jacqueline Davis (Introduction): Chair of Arts and Culture for One Shared World and member of the NYU Brademas Center Council from the United States
Lara Foot (Panelist): Playwright, Director, Producer, CEO/Artistic Director of the Baxter Theatre from Cape Town, South Africa
Christopher Hibma (Moderator): Leader in nonprofit culture and international program design from the United States
Sara Vanderieck (Panelist): Independent dramaturg working on multiple performing arts creations from Brussels, Belgium
Maya Zbib (Panelist): Theatre director, performer, writer, trainer and co-founder and co-artistic director of Beirut’s Zoukak Theatre from Beirut, Lebanon
