Tell G20 leaders: Help build a safer world for all by addressing the urgent needs of the world’s most vulnerable people

Global crises like the Covid-19 pandemic have shown how the health and safety of each and all of us are connected in our interdependent world. Recognizing these threats and the critical opportunity to address them, OneShared.World has issued its report “Rise or Fall Together: Addressing the Emergency Needs of the World’s Most Vulnerable Populations in this Time of Global Crisis.” This call to action outlines a series of bold measures, from individual and local empowerment to establishing new global institutions, that will mitigate the pandemic’s harm to vulnerable populations and chart a better way forward for everyone. For example, just a dollar a day direct payment to 820 million of the world’s poorest people is a critical first step.

Help us put this report in front of global leaders at the G20 summit in November, demanding they provide essential support to the world’s most vulnerable populations — the best possible investment we can make toward a safer world for all of us. We’ll keep you updated regularly with additional ways to make a difference.

What is the G20?

The Group of Twenty (G20) summit brings together leaders from both developed and developing countries from every continent, regional institutions, and international NGOs including the UN, OECD, WHO and WTO to discuss issues of global socioeconomic and financial policy. The G20 member nations are: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, and the European Union.

The G20 members are critical for voicing the needs of vulnerable populations; they collectively “represent 80% of the world’s economic output, two-thirds of the global population and three-quarters of international trade.” At the end of every G20 summit, a declaration, or communiqué, is released that outlines future policy decisions. One Shared.World is working to ensure that G20 leaders will commit to policy that meets the basic water and health needs of vulnerable populations around the globe.
